Tanya Fishburn

Tanya Fishburn is lifelong dancer, dance instructor, and co-founder of So Fly Kids. She started her journey working with youth as a group leader, and site director, of the YMCA after-school program and summer camp, in Mililani Hawaii. More recently, Tanya volunteered as Outreach Coordinator, and eventual President, of the Playa Vista Moms Group. During her 6 years with the PVMG, Tanya played an integral part in organizing the group into a 501c3 non-profit and expanding its outreach capacity. She stepped down in 2016 to pour her energy into the build-out and opening of SFK Academy of Dance, a premier children’s dance studio in Playa Vista. That same year, and rather suddenly, Tanya lost her mom, Anna Fishburn, to cancer. Anna had recently discovered philanthropy and giving back, with a special love of volunteering with children's charities. The last text she sent her daughter Tanya before her passing, was one of pure joy over the opening of SFK studio.

Erica Brookhart is a life long dancer, children's book author, dance instructor and Artistic Director of SFK Academy of Dance, and co-founder of So Fly Kids. She was one of the first dance instructors at The Progressive Arts Academy in Compton, CA, and also taught at Budlong South Central, where she gained her passion for working with inner-city and under-privileged youth. Erica has worked with terminally ill children at the Dream Street Foundation, and is an advocate and long-time supporter of the Don't Worry Be Happy Foundation, a non-profit which assists cancer patients with their medical bills.   Erica lost her best friend and fellow dancer, Trycia Carlberg to Stage 4 breast cancer in 2012.  Even after her passing, Trycia has not stopped inspiring and helping others through her legacy and her memory.

Erica Brookhart

Together, Tanya and Erica have launched So Fly Kids Foundation, and the Fishburn-Carlberg Chance to Dance Scholarship Fund, to honor Anna, and Trycia's memory, keeping their spirit alive through the hundreds of underserved youth that will now be given the Chance to Dance.
